Mother

jmdz25

People don’t understand you

Your mouth has been sewn shut

You have sacrificed so much and are tired of staying silent

Anger consumes you

You, the oppressed have now become the oppressor

You swing at invisible invaders who threaten you

Everyone is the enemy

Everyone wants to cause you harm

You have come to the conclusion that you are alone

It is you against the world

You want to be happy

And you should be, you deserve it

Consumed by this quest for happiness

A blindness arises

You point the arrow at anyone who comes near

You shoot not looking at who it may be

You shoot your mother

You shoot you son

You shoot your daughter

You shoot anyone who has ever cared

We call out your name

We try to bring you back to your senses

You don’t hear us

You don’t look at us

You just smile

Look away

And say

I’m home...
