A Dream of a Mermaid

Methmi Mandara

Going on land with legs and heels
Be with humans in the world with heal
See the sunrise and evening sky shade
Is just a dream to me, a mermaid

Ancestors advice, no affair with human
To all the mermaids in the deep ocean
I wish I could go without a tail
As little mermaid in the fairytale

All with fish, corals and weed
Sometimes caught by sharks so speed
Marine life is boring now
Waiting to be on land, no matter how

I've heard humans say
Mermaid hair is gold not gray
As a cloud floating in the water
But I wish to fly to real clouds later

They say that my tail is magical
With golden dust can't explain lyrical
Swimming underwater with dolphin friends
But why can't I be with human friends
