Inko

black ink

her handwriting moved over the page
as if the blank ink were infused with champagne
inviting words of such beautiful intelligence
these moments when she’s in full bloom
a scene of pure sincere elegance
sitting by the lamplight in her room

pouring her heart and soul
into a love letter meant for someone
to a boy that made her feel whole
whenever she was feeling alone

black ink as dark as night
my good mornings are late nights just for you
i know you’re fighting just to make it tonight
even though you’ll be feeling so blue
i’ll be there to guide you through
even if its last thing i do
because you know that i love you too

there was confidence in his handwriting
as a soldier marching through the storm
never a time when hasn’t been fighting
in hope to come home to her warmth
even if he’s bleeding and defeated
never stopping because he knows he’s needed

pouring his heart and soul
because of the memories of feeling at home
to a girl that made him feel whole
whenever he was all alone

black ink as dark as night
my late nights are good mornings just for you
i know you’re fighting just to sleep tonight
even though you’ll be feeling so blue
i’ll be there to guide you through
even if its last thing i do
because you know that i love you too

pouring her love from the start
holding her close in his heart
always knowing what they’re getting into
going strong until they say i do
because you know that i love you too

your mine and i’m yours
your heart and your soul
Is all i ever known
you make me feel so whole
i promise i’ll be coming home

    Beautifully written inko

You can't beat an old-fashioned love letter, lovingly written. Your poem brought to mind my own parents. They used to write to each other during World War Two, when my father was in North Africa, and then Italy.

This reminds me of all the greatness that should come from black ink, I've only ever received one love letter. Inko, you have put your heart and soul into this it also reminded me of all the young couples apart due to covid this is a timeless peace my friend. Well done

What a romantic poem about a girl who's using black ink to write a letter to a boy that she loves.
