DOWNTOWN GIRL…09/11/2001

Laura🌻

Another year

Another special visit

To  honor and remember

All who lost their lives...

Including my dearest friend

I remember that day

All too well

As Barbara and I headed to our destination

We wished each other

To have a great day

Her stop was downtown

Mine was uptown

I called her the Downtown girl

She called me the Uptown girl

This Uptown Girl was the lucky one

Oh how I miss my Downtown girl

I think of her every single day

And wonder why Barbara and not me...

I suppose it was destiny!

  • Comment from author about the poem: I’m reposting this poem in honor of my dear friend Barbara and all those who lost their lives on that infamous day—09/11/2001. I miss you so much my dear Barbara. Every single day I shed a tear for not having you in my life. On this anniversary day there’ll be more than one tear that shall be shed…for you and for all who lost their lives. R.I.P. 💔

An emotional write to say the least Laura. No exaggeration, I can feel your hurt. And this DID bring a few tears to my eyes. ((((HUGS))))

I felt your words as if it were a friend of mine. In this we, the small people of the western world, stand as one embracing each others freedoms. Embracing the heatbreak of loss. I don't think we yet know the extent of what we have lost.

    into my favs.

Must be a particularly bad time for you right now, Laura - You have provided a fitting tribute.
And please don't think that my post on orchi's entry diminishes my respect for your personal loss. Take care of yourself.

I do remember this one, do you repost it every year? It’s written with your heart, it must be a very difficult loss for you. You ended this one well. “Destiny” a perplexing thing!
