Tune: St Peter

('How sweet the name of Jesus sounds')

Matthew 21 v.12-16

*********

Jesus went into the temple

Of God, there cast out all

That sold and bought there, overturned

Money-changers cash earned

And too the seats of them that sold

Doves there, and to them told

That His house shall be called, here see

The house of prayer it be

But they den of thieves had it made

They were paid for their trade

Jesus did restore he purpose

Of temple's proper use

The blind and lame unto Him came

In the temple, the same

He healed, then chief priests and scribes saw

His wondrous works for sure

And too they saw children praising

In temple, and saying

Hosanna, Son of David, save

To God they worship gave

They were displeased, said to Jesus

Hear what they say midst us?

Jesus said, Yes, have you ne'er read

What the Scriptures have said?

'Tis out of mouths of babes, infant

God has perfected thence

Praise to His name, their faith simple

As they do on Him call
