Lies I Learned

WhisperedWord

Touch me please

I’m screaming at you to get away

And whimpering “don’t leave me”

How can I show you this granite edifice

Has tears in its eyes?

Bare my wounds

Though I conceal them with bravado

Wrap them in tenderness

Though I bare the fangs of ambivalence and good cheer

I don’t need your help.

Your pity or your companionship.

Love is a luxury.

But could you spare some?

I’m strong.

But could you hold me?

The nights are lengthening,

Would you keep me warm?

Please

the most poetic line, on this page
in my most humble opinion, is:
    'on the silent chains, that
    keep us: from accepting
    help.'..
