Jennifer Martin

Oh, the mellow hues of dawn,

set upon horizon’s crest.

Dancing leaves, a gentle breeze,

whispers ‘cross the meadow’s breast.

Distant hilltops, crowned in flames,

of vivid orange and red,

illuminate an amber path,

the day which lies ahead.

The pale perfection of morning’s inception,

paints a smoky sky.

In peaceful succession, sunlight’s procession,

ascends to heaven’s high.

Thank you very much, Teddy! He was one of my father's dearest friends and our neighbor throughout my childhood. His love of each dawn and his incredible energy and enthusiasm to start the day never ceased to amaze me.
