[ Architect ]

Heart of Babel

I lived in a world

That was not a reality

Let myself believe

That our love was quality

Because love is my being

And I was sure you mirrored me

So distracted by my passion

That I was lacking clarity

Then you hurt me

You drove that dagger deep

And if my heart wasn’t so strong

There’d been no hope of my relief

All the years I’ve given

You’ve taken like a thief

And now you treat me like a /ˈbastərd/

When it was you who chose to leave

I would ask’ “What’s the matter?”

But I know the list is long

And you’d spin your webs of fiction

And sing your siren songs

Until truth has been abandoned

Replaced with all your wrongs

So I don’t ask a thing

It’d just be agony prolonged

And despite of all of this

Love never changes mind

When wronged, it turns the other cheek

To be defaced by a new crime

So you can be the monster

And I’ll just be the kind

And you can wage disaster

And I’ll just heal, in time

Because the way that you have acted

At no time was ever right

And if that is your true color

You’ve no attraction to delight

You may front a different person

When you’re shown within the light

But when you’re masked within the shadows

You’re a completely different sight

A display of smoke and mirrors

An illusion to the eye

A deception so unworthy

Through a living, flagrant, lie

But I won’t hold that against you

Because you are not my bride

You’ve become a stranger

As you’ve shown your truest side

No longer in my mind

No longer in my heart

All memories erasing

Of the lives you’ve tore apart

And that is my true blessing

A means to just forget

You’re fading from existence

In this world I architect

I’m creating a new world

Where I can see truly

Both Grace and Love abounding

In all of their beauty

Free to be myself

Without any protest

No longer walking in the shadows

Of despair and distress
