Someone to Answer To

Accidental Poet

I believe all living species

Have someone or something

A force to be reckoned with

Some kind of higher being

Whether human, animal or plant life

Even aliens from another world

I believe all life in the universe

Must answer to their own force

No matter what you call it

Creator, Allah, Deity, God or Spirit

A voice within your heart

If you listen close, you’ll hear it

And should you choose

Not to believe in any force

That’s your choice which I do respect

You’re entitled to of course

But it is of my belief

There is something bigger than us

Someone who, cares, loves

And believes in us

Someone who sees everything

The good and bad we all do

I believe in a higher being

Someone to answer to

  • Comment from author about the poem: I want to clarify here that this is not about religion of any branch. Purely just that I believe there's someone or something that loves and cares deeply for us. πŸ’–

Yes so do I. But i can't believe in these religious traditions man has created to manipulate our minds when we are small children.
Sit before coastal waves, or beneath open sky at night and the power from something connects spiritually.

    • Accidental Poet

da, I'm not referring to religion really. Just that there's a force bigger, greater and higher than us that cares and loves us. But not of any one religion. Religions only seem to divide us into separate groups. My poem is not about religion. But thank you for reading and your thoughts. πŸ˜‰

I was actually agreeing with you (first three words) then going on to say my spiritual feelings are quite separate from the religious god crap so often spouted on MPS.

          Good write AP.
I will have to answer to someone for my singing. They will ask 'Why did you torture so many, drive so many to insanity?' lol.

          • Accidental Poet

Yes you will Orchi. But thanks to my Super Duper ear plugs, I still have my sanity. And so do I. 😜

If you choose to believe – go for it; if you want to hope, then whatever allows you to lead a full happy life. It is a halfway reasonable substitute for a conscience anyway.

            But we don’t actually KNOW.

          • Goldfinch60

My own feeling exactly AP. What I do not condone though are organised religions that tell people what they should be doing and should be doing it in a certain way. We each have our own way to god.

Agreed 100% Andy. Everyone has a right to believe as they wish. Thank you for reading and your comment.

Good writing ) I think I’m more of a spiritual person , rather than β€œ religious β€œ I do believe there is something out there , and I definitely believe in angels . I’m just not the type of person to go to church

              • Accidental Poet

I too don't go to church. Maybe I need to clarify in this post that this is not really about religion, but more of that I believe there is someone or something of a higher power watching over us and that cares deeply and loves us. Some relate that to religion, but that's not where I was going with my poem here. Thanks rose for reading and your comment.
