Wind Powered Submarines.

Doggerel Dave

Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave
I will return early January.

Not quite wind powered - something of greater utility:

Hydrogen Oxygen Separation Technology.

These HOST systems are to be laid on the seabed quite soon;

Australia, UK and US are over the moon:

The generation of hydrogen and oxygen bubbles

Provide the answer to the three nations defense troubles:

Water separated into its constituent parts

Is blasted upward as tiny bubbles in well timed farts.

Angled fins on the submarine deflect and dissipate;

These bubbles reform as H2O after they create

Forward motion for our submarine; their job is now done.

So technology wins the day when war is that much fun.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Several poems ago Andy unformed us re news of wind powered aircraft carriers in his piece ‘Technology Passed’. At that time I had heard vague rumours of wind powered submarines. Subsequently more information has come to hand – a quick update.

Now Aussies can take our (brit) well practiced archery two fingered salute and join with the centuries of Brit bowmen who have taunted the French whingers in a majestic jesture.

Thanks dusk. But for yer Aussi taxpayer It ain't going to go well - the French are going to sue the Govt for every cent they can squeeze out of them.

Have you applied for the patent yet ..

this is so cool ...... but then so is nuclear fusion I believe ......................... N 🙂

      • Doggerel Dave

Nah Nev – no Patent Application. It’s not mine to patent - I am the mere conduit which brings to you information from a mate who knew someone who met a bloke down the local hostelry one Saturday night…

Nuclear? Nothing cool about it here – a very hot topic. Anyway there’s a good chance (hopefully) that our Pollies will be asphyxiated by their very own hot air before any of this reaches fruition.

"tiny bubbles in well timed farts."

I love that this just made its way into a poem... Would it be "punny" to say I'm huge fan of this piece...

        • Doggerel Dave

Kudos, Hannah – your fan (retractable of course) could well provide a solution to the problem of forward motion when our sub. does surface maneuvers........

          • HannahElisabeth

Exactly what I was thinking... Goodness I'm too easily amused...

            • Doggerel Dave

Large part of your charm, M'dear........ 😊

            • Thekkinkkattil

A nice update of technology. Conveyed technology in nutshell. Informative and enjoyable. Thank you D

              • Doggerel Dave

No, thank you T. Considering your background, I feel honoured.

BTW - Have you any thoughts on sophisticated composting as a backup gaseous energy source for a projected second generation submarine system?

                A green war - wouldn't that be a righteous cause of itself......?...............................................................😊

Wind powered subs - Well hoist the mainsail Matey! Oh yeah they do have sails. This tech sounds fascinating and if it eliminates the nuclear aspects it would be a hell of a lot safer. Nice one DD. - Phil A.

                • Doggerel Dave

Cheers Phil - safer still would be to have no subs at all ( maybe not safer, but definitely cheaper) By the time the atomic ones get built they are likely to be tactically useless, I feel....

That gives new meaning to passing wind. Most interesting in that it seems that people will go to enormous lengths to further war.

For me it was a bit of a sarcy look at my country's obsession with 'defense' at the time of the AUKUS pact - so for monstrous amounts of money we will be provided with nuclear powered submarines by the 2050's. The whole thing was (still does to some degree) driving me spare and I felt the need to lighten up a little.
