Love

matthew jay

I try my best in life

To love other people

It is easier in person

Than over the computer

People can misunderstand motives

I know this happens in life too

Last year on the news

A man saw a person on the street

He had compassion on him

He offered to buy the man dinner

That man took his offer as an insult

And stabbed him to death on the sidewalk

We live in such difficult times

Because I am a Christian

I still want to help others if I can

Yet I know

We take a chance doing so today

This was a reflection

In the morning

As I have a cup of coffee

  • Comment from author about the poem: I miss the times of when I was raised. I knew my neighbors and they knew me. There was more of a desire to visit with each other. It was a far easier time than now.
