WW1 women trapped in houses

Frost and Lbrittain

I am stuck in this house while the war rages on

I miss my husband I wish he hadn’t gone

I feel so useless, there’s nothing I can do

I can’t get a job or go to the zoo

I’m as sad as a bulb that’s 100 years old

This winter is so cold the frost is taking hold

The war’s getting better, I’ve finally found a job

The only thing I want is my very dearest Bob

The winter’s getting warmer the snow is starting to melt

Fresh, flourishing flowers are the only thing that can be smelt

I must travel far and long

While singing a happy song.

It may be your first but is a pleasure to read. Thank you. Fear and hope in a few lines. Very good.
