Slow Walker

Mariel Ilagan

Slow walker
I keep running into you
In this busy sidewalk
With your unbearable smugness

Slow walker
Always right behind you
I'm running late in life
But you won't let me pass through

Slow walker
You're blocking my vision
But I'm not leaving behind
All my dreams and ambitions

Slow walker
You're not even real
You're just an illusion
From my self-doubt and fears

Oh, slow walker
I fondly await the day
You stop holding me down
Even if I have to take another path

Can't keep blocking my way
You sluggish, slow walker
You'll just be a shadow someday
And I shall walk at my own pace
