Fault Line

Kurt Philip Behm

Deeper than love,

deeper than hate

the abyss that surrounds

inclement to wait

Fortune redundant,

heads in the clouds

escape not an option

—lost faces surround

(Ronald McDonald House: September, 2021)

The Last Mirage

Drowning

in the tides of thirst,

the dam opened wide

—for better or worse

(Dreamsleep: September, 2021)

had to read this two or three times and contemplate, why it gripped me with such intensity,
there's a sense of stunted despair in your lines,
like, even attempting to pretend and project a feigned sense of normality
could potentially become, that one step too far..
instead this words, seemingly represent a lifeline of rope, where
they allow us, to look at
    than experience:
    'the tides of thirst,
    the dam,
    opened wide
    —for better or worse'..
    (a deeply layered write
    beautifully worded
    profound poetry!
    thanks for sharing, dear poet)

And once again, I thank you.

    Kurt,

    •”Fault Line”

A ‘fault line’ of life will either make us better or it will make us worse. It will be disruptive and cause changes. Upheavals, especially unexpected ones, may seem unfair, but they’re not always dreadful.

    •“The Last Mirage”

    Diving in all the way…
    ‘for better or worse’…
as one of my physicians said!

I did a lot of pondering during the reading of your two intense poems. So much to think about!

    Thank you for sharing.

    Laura🌻
