Sunlight/Shadow

rebmasters

The sweet sun on your face
as you went on your way
reminded me of the sweltering heat
beneath your sheets;
the light playing
across our love
in the room that never grows old,
like a snapshot
or an old note
inscribed to a lover
in the cover
of a well worn novel.
I watched you go,
jealous of your shadow,
wanting only for you to know
that I think you
left something wonderful
in your wake &
wherever you’re going,
I would like to come along too
