True Enemies

Jayy

Not one scar that I got
Came from an enemy

Those same scars
Came from those who claim
To love me
The more my heart
Got scarred, the more I closed
The world off
Living in darkness
Until strong enough
See the light
The light, the brightness
Of my heart and soul
Every enemy I had was
True
Either they hated me for a reason
Or no reason
The ones who love me
Hated me one day
Then the other days loved me
So is it that I’m loved or just tolerated
I’d rather have a true enemy
Than a fake friend
Fake love scarred me
Ever more than any enemy could

This is so beautiful and relatable. 🥰😔

    yeah, I know your words
as if you plucked them from my heart
and I know your unstated fury
as if we once waged a war side-by-side,
    but sadly
we're two complete strangers, what we have in common
is that we toil, our path in life amongst all the abundant cruelty of societies brazen, hypocrisy...
    (thanks for sharing
    a write worded, so accessible
that I could relate with, so instinctively)

A very fine and touching write.
