Prayer to a New Sun

figuring-it-all-out

Heal, sun, heal
Send your velvet cherry blossom
To arch above
That sunny patch, soft and proud
Guardians of a dormant garden.

For my heavy heels to rest
Caressed, blessed.

Heal, sun, heal
The last year of my life
Scorch the debris
Leave it unrecognisable,
Irretrievable.

Pivot your glorious gaze
From the past
Leave it in eclipse

Warm the bones
Of my grandmother-
Oh how she's missed
How once, she was kissed
By your halo.

Arrive sun, and stay
Even just for a moment
Even just enough time
For my seedlings to sprout
For my lungs to breathe air
For life once again.
