Faulty instinct’s

Beside me, an apple is decaying

entrenched teeth marks

as a gluttonous array, of tell-tale signs

no autopsy needed for this atrocity

I had no appetite, initially

for a killing spree

till Spring’s succulent beauty

entrapped me;

vibrant red, glistening

crisp skin, smoothly mesmerising

perfectly ample curves, teasing

enthralled: by a single glimpse

I stare, blankly

my lips, still drip its sweet essence

quenched taste buds, crooning

yet somewhere deep within

I mourn.

A vigil of gratitude

momentary, yet timeless

and entirely heartfelt: in the moment.

Beyond my soon forgotten, of vanquished

sun-kissed colours, glitter endlessly

a Pear-shaped outline sways

my eyes, refocus: hungrily.

Across fate’s ley lines

hunger fuelled darkness, takes-aim

stalking, jewel adorned fingers

enticed, by their Fruit Conquering: prowess…

Dearest Mek, I could see Adam in this piece probably from the very first line and your title. Succulent in imagery my dear friend, a treat for the soul a fantastic last stanza too. Thank you. X

well, it does hint on a lot of different
      if interconnected, popular notes
just glad you enjoyed the read, dear poetess
      humbly, I thank you!

    • aDarkerMind

coming from you, that's just embarrassing
but luckily I have the pride-o-meter level
        of a scavenger rat..
so, I'll just trigger my ignorance barrier
        and say thank you! lol
(ignore me, I'm just being silly my friend)

I was just joking about this
in the comment before you, lol
          y'all are just too kind
but still, I recognise how lucky I am
to be supported by such forgiving, gifted poets
and so I thank you, sincerely!

            thank you!
(but please know, I would have read your poem
            without you commenting on mine;
            and you should only comment
if you're interested in what you read

After Adam and Eve, did God go back to the drawing board. At least he kept the humble apple tree. Class write.

I have never met eve or adam,
I have only met the consequences to my own choices..
thanks for taking the time to read and comment
                      really appreciate your encouraging words
