Turn it off.

Mari[anne]

Should I turn my humanity off?

Will it make me better?

Would it ease my pain?

Take away the darkness?

Erase the weakest parts of me,

For a shell that won’t hurt anymore.

Is this the better option?

Tell me.

Should I be human?

Or just turn it all off?

luckily, if you have access to the switch
    you can toggle it on and off;
    sometimes we Must, prioritise ourselves
    Insure our own survival, before
    we look to others
then, when we have the capacity to help someone
without, being in danger of getting lost in their struggle
then we can offer a hand and switch our humanity on, if you will...
I thought this was an intriguing write, some thought provoking concepts introduced
    thanks for sharing
