Today was not just about turning another year older
It was about the 12 year old girl who swore she would never even see 13
The girl who found herself in the middle of her journey and wanted to give up
The girl who could never envision her future because she did not want one
Somewhere inside of me are those girls
And today they all got to see me become an adult
Every single girl saw where their battles brought them
Distant, undreamt of lands full of possibilities and responsibilities
Here’s to them, and here’s to 18
