And I still have dreams

About shaking people’s hands

With my right elbow.

I never thought the word negative

Could become positive

Until the world met Covid.

Thoughtful words Teddy, may we hope that the positive return to our lives and all will be fine.

Dearest Andy, so many people have lost so much, I'm one of the lucky ones but there are many who have lost their loved ones. Here we are in a new moment of risk but it will pass again I'm sure. Thank you ☺️

and staying home, doing nothing and not working would be a responsible thing to do and going to work would be punishable. what about that, haha

I lost my job due to COVID, in February, that's why I've had so much time to write, last week I found a fab new job but still it's a very bitter sweet moment for me, because I have friends who have lost so much more. Thank you ☺️

        that brought a tear to my eye Teddy;
        and much to reflect on.
we can only hope for better days to come.
        from the heart x

I love the graphic of Snoopy with his boxing gloves on sparring with Covid, dear Teddy. He is an inspiration to each of us who reads your finely penned poem. We too should don our boxing gloves and fight Covid with every ounce of energy we have, by following the rules laid down for us with regard to sanitising our hands, wearing our mask, social distancing, etc. Covid took a lot away from us, we all lost good friends to it, but for some people, Covid became a gift in a sense, as husbands who spent their day in the pubs, had no choice but to adjust and stay at home, many marriages were re-kindled and people saw how much money they saved by staying at home. Now, that the pubs are open, people are not returning to them as the publicans thought they would. With the money saved, houses which hadn't seen a lick of paint in thirty years are now looking like new houses again, fully redecorated. A joy to live in! There is yet, another side. Some didn't like being at home and made their spouse's/partner's life a living hell, resulting in the break up of many marriages and relationships which were not strong enough, but that may be for the better. The drug scenario in Ireland became worse with Covid. There is no village, town or city in Ireland not touched by it, sadly. But, for ordinary folk like us, we take responsibility for ourselves and like Snoopy, we do battle with Covid, each day we are alive. The dreams will always be there, having lived the experience, dear Teddy, but no matter what we experience in our lifetime there is an upside and a downside attached, depending on our reaction to it. We cannot change the event, we can only change our reaction to it and act accordingly.
This is a superbly penned micro-poem and Snoopy is the icing on the poetic cake. Love him and love your wondrous poem, dear Teddy. Thank you for sharing, dear friend...

Dear, Dear Marie, I'm so sorry to hear you have lost friends, yes if I didn't laugh about it even I may cry, I've had both my vaccines, Last week I found a beautiful new job and the same day was told my son's class mate has COVID, so he has been home every since in quarantine. I didn't celebrate my new job nor my birthday on Saturday but I have spent time with you all here so I'm thankful for that at least. Yes we need to all do what is best even when it is hard we have to out smart COVID actually my first poem on this post is a senryu so I used the word dream but actually wanted to put nightmare, thank you my dear friend for your kindness and your lovely friendship. Let's hope that we can over pass all this nonsense soon. With a huge hug to you today. 🤗🌹

            • Robert Haigh

My youngest grand-daughter has gone down with Covid, and she's off school now. We've not beaten Covid yet, and perhaps we never will. We'll probably have to learn to live with it, like flu. Go on, Snoopy! Give Covid a good bashing! I'm still waiting for my booster jab.

              • Teddy.15

Dear Robert, my 8 year old son is now waiting his COVID test because he was.in class last week with someone who unfortunately has it, these children are so resilient and thanks to the vaccinated population we are more able to manage this virus. My best wishes to you and your family dear friend. 🤗 thank you for sharing today as I believe a.problem shared is a problem halved.

                It hits the chord
                Covid was the most difficult
It made us realise the importance of having loved ones beside
                Being myself a covid survivor
                It added even more
The precious breathe that I hold
am great full to the men in white coat
Who saved me and helped others too

                • Teddy.15

Thank you so much for coming by to leave your wisdom, so very kind of you. There are so many horrible things that COVID brought but yes, also a realisation of the importance of family friends and of course (the simple hug) we all have taken lessons some more harsh than others, COVID has effected each and every person. Thank you.

                  • spilleronsheet

I hope all gets better and the effects of COVID reduces drastically. It won’t vanish so soon but I just hope it becomes merely like a cold flu.

                  • Accidental Poet

I too had that dream. Love the image Teddy. 😉

                    • Teddy.15

As already mentioned,Covid I fear,in the 19 variant,is here for the long haul.I will accept my "booster",as I do my annual flu jab, when called to do so by the NHS here in the UK.I too know quite a few people who had Covid, twice.Even after being double jabbed.
Facemasks, washing hands,"elbow bumping" is a way of life now.The local schools, near me have kids in and out all the time with Covid,or symptoms.
I was fortunate in going to North Yorkshire,as me and Janet drove. We took "test kits" with us,which we did daily. We had booked a cottage, near Whitby, which had been steam cleaned, before our arrival, but in the local town,we had to use the amenities of course,so you can never be a 100%.
We travelled around far and wide, but always tried to keep a sensible distance from people. And yes,we avoided the local pubs.
Annual booster jabs will be the norm now I think, along with the annual flu jab.

                      • Teddy.15

Thanks for your input dear Neil, and I agree, we have to live with this and if we are all smart soon it will be no more than a flu 🤗 ps sounds like you and Janet had a gorgeous break. X

Yes dear Teddy - covid has changed life in this country too - - thoughts of love and comfort go out to all who have lost so much.

Great word play .. the top or first one not only word and syllable perfect but bang up to date & will forever provide a date stamp to assist others who find it in the future ... The second one or number two if seen as a separate entity aint bad neither .. actually it is also rather good ... Neville x

                          • Teddy.15

Dear Neville, people keep telling me to be positive, and i always reply no no i need to be negative. lol
