Time to Escape

Sonoran Bard

At first, just a silhouette.

Upon my approach, so much more.

A setting sun digging into the mountain.

Leaving a trail of colors, shifting with time.

You sat on a stone bench, soaking in warm obsession of the view .

I wonder as I pass by,

Is this all you’re here for?

Resting in quiet, simple joy?

Or have you, like all of us, escaped for a moment?

Enjoying freedom before we’re found again?

Playing hide-and-seek while we pretend the city closes its eyes.

But we know it never does.

A tale of mutual survival,

But time away from the machine is hallowed time.

No matter why we are here,

We are here to be free.
