smooth pebble

AnxiousMane

Unavoidable misery

was an unmovable stone

of such size as to instill

terrific, colossal, Brobdingnagian, awe.

Now,

laughter and tears transform

the wind-carved, water-scarred mountain

into a smooth, attractive pebble.

The pebble grows and shrinks.

It's all pretty damn tedious.
