Love on a Friday Night

HopefulRomantic

I didn’t want to and you knew.

We mutually ignored the cues.

I saw your cards and you saw mine:

The Tom Odell, the rum, the wine,

The yawn, the stretch, the polite decline

Of just one more.

But I owe you. Forever.

So whenever the mood takes you

We do. And you knew

I didn’t want to.

Mutual respect, which in time may lead to something else.

    Two glasses clinker together
While two make a wonderful tune
Let’s await what the universe will make of two
    Well penned dear poet
