Caged myself in this illusion of mine,
Fearing of my own sanity
Fear of losing something that was never mine
fear of seeing what they call reality.

- Comment from author about the poem: loving someone from afar is like building a cage full of illusions, full of what-ifs, full of hope that will shatter in a slip of a finger.

Superb brevity that says so much.
Love:
"...Caged myself in this illusion of mine,..."
Thought provoking work.
thank you for appreciating this thought of mine.
Speaks to the feelings, to the way the mind works or plays tricks. Love the powerful feeling and word art.
love can really be a trick that no one can figure out.
I read your author's comments first and then the poem. Having lived through this scenario a couple or more times I know just where you're coming from in your verse.
A well described helpless situation where u have scant control over what's happening.
loving someone who can't even look in our way is like putting a dagger in our chest.
