Rose Tinted Shades

Cheyenne Smith

Some years ago I was constantly wearing Rose-tinted shades

I started hurting myself with words that cut deep like blades

At the same time as receiving poor grades

I was unaware and oblivious to what was going on

I used to treat life as though it was a movie and enjoy whilst eating popcorn

This was before the mental trauma and pain

The pain that locked me up in a tight chain

Giving me thoughts about whether I was sane

That misery was originally keeping me astray

The strain and torment created a perfect pathway

Impacting on the strong woman I have become today

I actually think if you thrust a child into this consumer, tech world, you start from an insane point of view.
At some point we all find our path, good or bad.

    Well the line resonates
And so true my dear friend
I am happy you could come out
Cause it’s hellish with such thoughts
The pressure shaped the carbon created a rare diamond
And that diamond is you dear poet
