Lady Zola was her name

Edthepoet

So as the ashes do fall

the sons and daughters all

Those who stood their ground

So as the flares did light

The blackened night sky

Their breath made no sound

Unspoken love

Unruly truths

Flickering in the flame

The blood runs red

Falls on her chest

As the ocean sprays

If I was to show

A thousand years ago

The holy ghost said I'd find fame

She and I

From different times

Spirits meant to align

In my dreams

I hear her call to me

Save me from my fate

I run and I try

But I always arrive

Half a second too late

As she fades

A locket remains

On a rusty red chain

As she fades

I stand where she laid

Lady Zola was her name.
