The Uneducated O.A.P

Remember Them

The mists arise, The scene is set

Hearts are pumping, bodies in cold sweat

Shaking in excitement, Shaking in fear

loved ones praying, for those they hold dear

Lands and waters painted bloody red

Mutillated bodies, lying in hospital beds

Photographs trampled underfoot, in fields of death

Brave souls crying for mothers, as they take their last breath

Acts of murder, legalised  as war

Is anything in this world worth dying for?

Remember them, as you build sandcastles on the beaches where they died

Remember them, as you picnic in the fields, where they  lay down and cried

Remember them, in everything you partake

For they fell asleep, so you may awake.

And where have u been hiding lately?

Truly a poem for today. I share the emotion displayed here. See my poem 'they never leave you' posted on 9th nov along same theme.

Sunday will see us viewing the ceremony around the cenotaph amid a society which has learned little and is dieing away replaced by new blood with its adrenaline to war.
    War, humanity's pandemic.

Hi dusk, hope you're plodding along nicely, Thought I'd give it a rest for a while, try something else, I work better with my hands than I do with my brain!
I'll drop into your pages and have a look st "they never leave you"over a cuppa tomorrow.
New blood spilling new blood in wars will always be the way, sadly, these days the kids do it while still at school.
Look after yourself dusky, thanks for dropping by.

I read your incisively poignant words at 10:45am
fifteen minutes, to dwell on your meaning
till once more, I bow my head
      in remembrance and praise
      in wholehearted gratitude, for those
      that sacrificed their fleeting, breadth
so that we may be granted
a chance at breathing, freedom's air..
glad to see you you're doing well, my friend
thank you! for sharing, this timely write

              Good to see you back.
Such meaningful words on this day. So many lives wasted during such obscene wars.

Thanks Andy, Cliff Richard once sang about "time drags by real slow" but we all know it doesn't, the weekends seem to arrive quicker and quicker these days, which is why I stopped looking in plus of course some of my silly stuff doesn't fit in on here.
Anyway, look after yourself, hope you are still walking the croquet lawn.
