Colors Being Human

Garth Rakumakoe

The exquisite rainbow surely is a myth

with its harmony of colorful diversity

Such unworldly serenity, and coexistence

has to be some spherical illusion

Colors only one's ways can paint

should paint

Colors, being human adornment

  • Comment from author about the poem: The title to this short piece is Human Being Colors, in reverse. It references the rainbow as imitating what humanity should, and could be, in its denial, stating that surely no such thing exists. That it has to be an illusion, given humanity's current status quo.
