Stop the ride I want to get off

Jane Walker

Starting slowly the ride begins

Chugging at a leisurely pace

Up and up and down it goes

This brand-new ride called Covid

Not tested, not tried

Not seen before

Spreading around the world

This invisible menace begins to unfurl

The numbers rise and rise again

And people lose their lives

One, two, three, four

Still it claims the mortals

How long will it last?

No-one knows

A vaccine is created

Will it work? of course it will

But still the cases rise

6 months, 12 months, 18 and more

Still no end in sight

Vaccines being given

The 2nd and a booster

The ride is on the flat

Although it is up high

Lives still lost

Cases inert

The virus carries on

All we’re left with is hope

  • Comment from author about the poem: This subject has affected every single one of us. It\\\'s felt like a rollercoaster since it appeared in our world. Still no end in sight. This had to be penned. Hopefully I\\\'ll be able to do another when this virus is truly under control
