Ice

James Alexander

There is ice on the pond

and a cold chill in the air

yet my heart yearns for love

and the warmth it did share.

But all thru the years

of the love you can spare

there's nothing so cold

as the ice I found there.

  • dusk arising

A sad recognition of a relationship gone stale where one heart may begin to realise better things lie elsewhere.

Poignant. Vivid. Honest. I love it. Thank you for sharing.
