PAIN AND LOVE

Seo Eun Hae

love is the reason why there is pain.

when we lose someone who is precious to us, hate is born.

vengeance is the product  of that hate and so death follows.

but in death there is only more death.

this will give rise to more pains.

in this cursed world we live in,

it is a cycle of hatred that will not cease.

until our cycle begins to change and hatred will fade and love will win.

    'when we *lose* someone
    who is precious to us
    hate is born.'
    but then, dear thoughtful poet
    kindly explain
if 'Love', is the cause of Pain
what of all the people in the world
suffering, for 'lack of love' - alone?
    (love only equates, to pain
when 'Pride' - warps, its meaning
    by assuming, 'Love'
is that which we perceive it, to be
    but, we already know
    from our years
    of awaiting love's presence
    in our lives
    that 'True Love', is beyond
    our capacity to comprehend
    and label
why else, would all the music and poetry
in the world be about love, and yet
    we're still nowhere near, capable
    of conceiving its various, iterations...)
no, I think it more likely
'Pain' is our way, to handle the loss
    of love
    because we know, we're incapable
    of living without it, once
    we've experienced it;
    'Pain' is our coping methodology
for the loss of 'Love', but
    its not caused by love
its caused by the absence of love
    and the inevitable awakening
    of solitude's loneliness
    in our lives...
blaming love for that, is akin
    to blaming your heart
'for loving': in the first place...
