Frost

rebmasters

In the midst of a buttercup sunrise,
the lemon light on your lashes
as you slept beside me,
I wondered what dreams were playing
beneath your closed eyelids.
Outside, the bulbous moon was still so high
in the pale blue of the cold sky.
White & silver frost glittered & sparkled
on the black road,
as though
sent to soothe your soft sleep.
The night spent in the magic of
your melting & magnificent embrace;
that other world
in which
only you & I can exist.
But, in the brilliant sunshine
of a cold November morning,
you are still here;
letting me love you at long last,
in a new world
that we have just begun to build
