On a Journey

lostinfantasy

Like a bird needs a dwelling,

a shield from thunderstorms and rain,

those going on a journey

need someone who remains.

Lost in wilderness fearing

where to spend a night.

Tired of the struggle

to find a little light.

Ordinary folk,

if I only knew!

Not only buildings are lighthouses

but people can be too!

Natives at their homes

offer gentle care.

A hero could not be celebrated,

if they were not there.

It takes courage to set a foot

in unknown foreign lands.

It takes strength to live a simple life

and labour with your hands.

There are different types of people

and distinct kinds of pain.

World needs courage of brave pilgrims,

patience of those who remain.

  • Comment from author about the poem: While hearing about famous travellers who mediate to us their experience about the world, I find it important to think also about people who do not travell anywhere. Who are able to share different aspects of their coutries to the tourists and foreigners.
