Precious

James Alexander

Things that seem precious

that one's heart calls mine

have a way of losing

value over time.

Once dear and cherished

now fondly placed away

not quite forgotten

reserved for another day.

Sometimes remembered

for a period of time

recovered again then

back out of mind.

How much time will pass

how long will it be

before your fondness

forgets about me?
