Vague

karvelD

Sprawling lily pads kiss

gold tipped sawgrass shoots

from spongy moss floating

beds of duckweed

sprinkled along the shore

brown sticks and a log

corral myriad specks of green

sleep dusted creatures

and magazine colors

make up and paint the pond.

An abstraction whose nature

quiets a blazing sun,

coaxing colors to rest

everything coming to sleep,

on a flawless reflection,

a sheet of perfection,

a daydream unfurling

stones from my hand

add ripples to prove

the world is not a painting.
