I wanted you to grow so fast,
Impatient for your first words,
These milestones flying by,
That thought is now absurd.
Time slow down I beg of you,
Let me savor these moments,
His tiny toes and button nose,
Will be big before we know it.
With every first there is a last,
Yet I thought that I was ready,
With every inch this baby gains,
My aching chest grows heavy.
Oh my sweet little boy,
I wish you’d stay like this forever.
The way your head fits my chest,
I swear there is nothing better.

- Comment from author about the poem: From the moment my son was born I said I was ready for him to be a toddler, but now thinking about how he will never be this small again breaks my heart.

The intimacy between mother and tiny baby... something a man can never know.
A fine write PB.
Yes, adults may say: 'I know a child. I was one once!'
Lovely.
