Verdant Verses Vivify

Charles Edward York

When poets pay attention to a piece of paper
Verdant verses vivify la joie de vivre
The diurnal doldrums disappear
And the undiscovered world
Suddenly and sweetly awakens.

When a lover’s lips linger on each other’s pair
Perennial petals plant the kiss of life
And their momentum makes love
Where so many deep feelings
Project and propel to the surface.

When you and I are naked and not ashamed
No two bodies are more together
Skin on skin makes souls undulate
Sex becomes more than joy
In undone; we transform into stars!
