A Dance with the Devil

kaychee

Usually I would know but...
The truth was tainted by the taste of your lips
Confusion mixed with the curve of your tongue
Deceit mistaken for passion behind your eyes

Your lies...
Tasted so sweet
Your manipulation...
Cut so deep
Your demons...
They made love to me
Held me when I went to sleep

Toxicity, your heroine
Yours and mine
You found a recovering addict
Made her relapse in a short time

You knew with less visits
To her addict meetings
You could implore your tools, fear and shame,
So she could be yours to tame.

Poor, unsuspecting sweetheart.
Dealing with a professional grim reaper.
A soul taker...
A heartbreaker..
The devil himself.

Well put, it's easy to dig a hole and drag people into it, harder to climb a mountain like yourself.
