Fire In The Night

Charles Edward York

She walks with fire in the night

A star so close and yet far away

Almost as if a dream

Suddenly gave birth before my eyes

Slender and yet luminous

Amorous and alluring

A vision of love in the dark

Waiting and wanting on fire.

With her a star burns unceasingly

Even though shadows robe her

Love is a desire to be near

And yet a craving burning afar

Hands and legs so slender

Hunger feels ravenous

Insatiable even

For one alone.

And I, painted so faintly passing by

Feel so illuminated with curiosity

Travel delicately by her

Just out of her orbit

With companions

On a unexpected path

Our journey carries a purpose

A destiny with magic of our own.
