Worth It

JWKP98

You say you need distance, time and space

You’re not sure if you want to stay in this place

You have a lot in your head, you want to figure it out

So I’ll step back if it helps you clear your mind of doubt

You might leave, we might work it out, ways it could go, there are two

You need to keep me at arm’s length to get a better view

I just want you to come back now, true,

But until you know, you are worth it, so I’ll just patiently wait for you

It hurts like hell, not talking as much, seeing you less, as you sort your mind

Each and every day feels like a month, time feels undefined

I’m bleeding and scared, trying to find

A way to cope, but it’s okay baby, don’t worry about me, do what you need to do, take the time to see if there’s a way we can repair this bind

If it ends with you pushing me away instead of coming back to me with your arms open wide,

It’s okay baby, I’ll sleep better knowing I tried

If it turns out I’m not on the other side,

It’s okay baby, everything was worth the ride

  • Comment from author about the poem: Girlfriend and I are kinda in a tough spot. She says with some distance, time and space, we should be okay. But she's still not certain and I am still scared.

'You might leave, we might work it out, ways it could go, there are two'..
or maybe, you can find a way
    to a third solution
where friendship is no pipe dream
    and all your investments
in that relationship, aren't simply wasted..
    (hope it works out
    if not
hope can end it, on a good note)
not all breakups have to be the end of a relationship

She would still have to leave me for it to be a friendship. I've never loved anyone like this before, damned how young I be. I NEED it to work out.
