The year has gone

anna_noday

The year has gone

And I let him pass by –

Sitting by the window,

Waiting for his widow

Who wryly wrapped

Her web around me,

Glued my reflection

To the sublime scenery.

And I tried! Oh, I tried

To be the better half –

Halfway through my trying

I let myself crash.

She didn't say a word,

Her presence made me calm,

And with a forehead kiss –

She was also gone.

I picked up a life wearyness of "I knew it was going to happen all along" when i read this..... there's sometimes no explaining what we mentally 'see' when reading another persons choice of word.
