Warmth Of Your Sun

Charles Edward York

Strolling along the cold and damp pavement

My feelings wept into black water puddles

There in the lowest of dark places I fell

The gravity of your absence weighed the most

And I the meek fragility of flesh and bone

Shivers in the night underneath the moon

I grow heavy with sorrow and pain

A dull ache in my heart that seldom subsides

Will you come home and bless my body

Overflowing with affection and soft kisses?

Dispel this darkness and its dreadful cold

So I may feel the warmth of your sun.
