of Saturday’s

L. B. Mek

Always, my favourite

day, after - Payday

Date day, play day

fun themes, all day

my-kinda-day

Late night’s, spent together

as music, seeps-in a little deeper

immersed, in swaying habits

as alcohol, tastes a little sweeter

and our good mood's, ever linger

Youth’s mementos

of cinema screens, playing

to our embracing cheeks

eyes, too busy

on magnetic elbow fights

with that beauty, by our side

Friends, galore

in our hatchback for four

or eight

when seaside getaways

have us, topping-up

tyre air

every few miles

Grownup schedules, work lunches

jeans with suit jackets

smart casual, a glass extra

to celebrate deals, that easy going

child at heart - not old yet

stubbornness, as our go to - moto

get that tipsy feeling, enacted

before happy hour’s, even started

Grey hair shimmering

off-of smooth scalp, plains

but we're still grinning

at that Judas, mirror reflection

because it’s Saturday

and those tearaway grandkids

are coming over, to play...

Yeah, you’re reading

and nodding

to that Saturday, feeling

because you’re relating

with that infectious joy

in my meaning

grinning, like a kid again

knowing, when that

gift-giving day, lands

on a Saturday

in our beloved Blighty

we get:

a Ten-day break

for just three

of our annual leave days

now that’s

the kinda Saturday math

we love: to sing about

hell yeah, I’ll drink to that

‘hip hip and a little, festive cheer’, to all!

Never apologise for words written in earnest, unless the guy's name is actually, Earnest. It's great that you've stopped to do the maths, and found extra sleeping days, though something tells me someone else has done the maths too, and the grandkids are staying longer now.

        • L. B. Mek

that flipped coin of perspective, lol
          hoping it wasn't too bad
          Happy New Year, dear Poet!

Never have I found the words offensive
Maybe the years haven’t been normal for sometime
Don’t know how long will it take to normalise
Yet saturdays were pretty beautiful back in those days
Now hooked up on a desk with computer and net
            All days look same
            With work and no respite
            Gloomy
Only at mps it marks a change of atmosphere for me
With those pens who are magic wands
The poets make me travel to wonderful places or witness the past memories as they weave those

              Amen
and I agree, MPS is a great refuge
for tired hearts and labouring minds..
Thank you, for the kind words dear Poet
              and Happy New Year!

Should I laugh or cry? Can I do both? You have left me without an answer but with a lot to think about.

                      This is a fantastic poem.

                      Late night’s, spent together
as music, seeps-in a little deeper
                      immersed, in swaying habits
as alcohol, tastes a little sweeter
and our good mood's, ever linger

That's my favourite verse... brought back some good memories for me.

From beginning to end memories, most all fond and desirable. Heart warming, wistful, at most a bit melancholic. Thanks for the memories L.B.
