Under The Shadow Of Stars

Charles Edward York

Under the shadow of stars
The frigid fingers of a forbidding winter
Reach across the melancholy sky
Gripping colors from life
Above and below
While my furry companions
Huddle with me
And conspire to capture
All the warm we have left
Giving over to snoring and slumber
And eagerly seeking dreams.

Without the celestial orbs
Night hovers over us an insidious hue
Void of any alluring ambiance
Arms of our galactic home
Hide their companion light
In the silence
We wait for sleep to take us
Far away to worlds
Decorated in lively dust
Heat of a billion suns
Awakening desirable visions.

From where does my shine
Illuminate the graceful face I adore?
Tell me you have not flown off
That such cursed absence
Betrays this fire
Burning steady flames
Say it isn’t so
Whisper and grace me
With your soothing affections
Dispel this lonesome darkness
So our union is alive once more.

    Good write Charles.
Dunno about frigid weather here - it's a tad wet though! lol.
