The Aurora

James Alexander

The Aurora

the sky is my cathedral

under solitude of night

on a soft carpet of moss

regaling in a majestic sight

before me a darkened sky

studded diamond bright

forming a backdrop

for the northern lights

an ethereal, supernatural

sheet of luminous hues

viridescent with hints

of yellows and blues

a celestial tryst of

the goddess of dawn

and the north wind to

continue a love forgone

a graceful swirling river

of heavenly dancing light

moving slowly waltz-like

on throughout the night

a hypnotic harmony

that fills the soul with

a sense of wonder and

bemused bewilderment

so unique and magical

a marvelous sight to behold

the power to inspire feelings

of divine spiritual awe
