I Am Curious

Charles Edward York

I am curious by nature

About the essence of you

Standing where you are

The way that you do

I perceive the pleasure

The simple price of your name

Not cast aside to darkness

Into the chasm of shame

Be still, I am curious

About where you have come

From what place did grace

Chose me to welcome

Your virtue and beauty

And kindness can’t compare

Their dust pales next to you

So infinite and rare

Curiosity beckons me

Cherish the value of you

Prize your very smile

And every tear in blue

I am curious what color

Paints the wonder you are

Your ways, high and low

I admire near and far

I aspire to relate

Every moment times three

Sharing the center of being

Within you and me

My breath is your name

And my heart’s given way

Your world creates balance

With every word you say

Forever curious I am

Who is the one you enfold?

I know untold desire

Fails to claim what I behold

I tell you sincerely

You are a dream come true

My curiosity made flesh

The priceless essence called you.
