The Sting Of Love's Defeat

JEG325

ghostly rain fell thru milky sunlight
pattering softly over terraced gables
while I sat clutching her pink locket
eyes clouded up at the kitchen table

vaguely recalling

coming home exhausted after work
I found the note, my gift laying here
all signs of her separated from life
only the past stood out crystal clear

lights off while evening approached
not moving from my darkened seat
the world passing as time moved on
only I felt the sting of love's defeat...

Guys are notoriously blind to when things are falling apart. However, the most likely answer is that she simply went out and found herself another guy. I'm tickled that you liked it, da!

LOL no two guys are the same, nor their partners for that matter.
