The silent lights

Suman_Bhattacharya

the long-awaited evening

arrived with the chime of the church bells

calming and cooling cover of darkness

marching across all over the sky

the breeze arrived as the evening faded

with the smiling candles dancing all around

the eyes ─ facing each other

weakly lighted up by the candles

smiles

fragrances refreshing the surroundings

your gift ─ a rose

beautiful but dead

and red like the blue sky during a sunset

after all a breeze

             not supposed to be still

blew away to some distant land with unknown waters

its departure added sense to the real lost world

                 tears turned blind ─ betrayers

only the candles were still there

                           battling the darkness

may be only they realized ─

                 what was felt

                 what was thought

                 what was seen

beautiful imagery and layout that adds
