Where Once Played A Violin

JEG325

it began with sweet violins
we drank champagne on ice
summer days spent dancing
in a place called paradise

you held me close at night
we talked about everything
someday we'd tie the knot
and I would wear your ring

until dark clouds found us
and cold rain began to fall
what once was happiness
fled in a black raven's call

our dreams fell from a tree
leaves upon autumn's wind
hearts like empty branches
stripped bare in the bitter
end

if
you listen very carefully
you can hear winter begin
sounds of impending snow
where once played
a violin
